Compass Mining Alternatives: What to Compare Before Moving Your Miners

This page compares Compass Mining with other providers tracked by MineDocks across dimensions where sourced data is available. The goal is to surface meaningful differences — not to rank providers or recommend a winner.

Before you use this page: Provider terms, rates, and policies change. Every comparison below draws on publicly sourced data collected by MineDocks and may not reflect current offerings. Verify current terms directly with any provider before making a decision. Uptime figures are provider-stated — MineDocks has not independently verified performance claims for any provider listed here.

Understanding Compass's billing model first

The most structurally significant dimension when evaluating Compass alternatives is the billing model — because it determines whether your monthly cost changes when miners are offline.

Compass Mining — sourced

Flat monthly hosting fee based on miner power draw and facility. Fees are prepaid in advance.

This means that if your miners experience downtime — for any reason — your monthly Compass hosting charge does not automatically fall. You pay the full monthly fee regardless of whether the miner hashed for the full month. This also applies during repair queues for failed hardware, unless the contract specifies otherwise.

The practical implication: a provider with a higher advertised rate but actual-consumption billing may cost less per operating hour than Compass at lower uptime. See the effective hosting cost guide and interactive calculator for worked examples.

Uptime claims and how they're measured

All uptime figures below are provider-stated. MineDocks has not independently verified performance claims for any provider.

Compass Mining

View profile →

95% facility uptime (provider-stated SLA)

Provider-stated SLA. Uptime is measured by ping/online-status methodology — not by delivered hashrate or mining output. Eligible downtime may result in Compass Credits according to policy — lost mining rewards are not directly reimbursed as mining revenue. MineDocks has not independently verified this performance claim.

Contract: Standard hosted products commonly require at least one year. Easy Exit product offers monthly renewal — not all Compass products are monthly.

Bitkern — Bitkern LITE – Rate B

View profile →
~65% (provider-marketed)$0.045/kWh (36-month fixed rate)

Provider-marketed uptime figure. The significantly lower rate reflects a materially lower stated uptime tier. MineDocks has not independently verified this performance claim. Use the effective hosting cost calculator to compare modeled costs across uptime tiers.

BitFuFu — S21+ Hydro Hosted (Offer Example B)

View profile →
~95% (provider-reported historical)~$0.083/kWh

Provider-reported historical uptime figure. This is not a MineDocks-observed performance measurement. MineDocks has not independently verified this claim.

BitFuFu — Oklahoma S21 XP Hosted (Offer Example C)

View profile →
~97% (provider-reported historical)~$0.068/kWh

Provider-reported historical uptime figure. This is not a MineDocks-observed performance measurement. MineDocks has not independently verified this claim.

Uptime methodology matters. Compass's SLA is measured by ping/online-status — not by delivered hashrate or pool-side performance. Other providers' uptime claims may use different measurement methods. Check each provider's specific terms.

What this comparison doesn't do

This page does not rank providers, name a best alternative, or recommend one provider over another. MineDocks doesn't have commercial relationships with any of the providers listed here.

The data above is collected from public sources — provider websites and official support documentation — and may not reflect current offerings. Terms, rates, and policies change. This is a starting point for research, not a substitute for reading the actual hosting agreement.

MineDocks is building toward independent pool-side performance data — meaning actual observed hashrate and uptime from miners' own pool accounts, compared against what providers report. That data does not yet exist for any provider in the MineDocks database.
